Our Story

Our story is really the story of the grace of God. Grace and Truth Baptist Church was newly formed in 2026 by a family of believers in Laval who desired to gather around the preaching of the King James Bible and the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our name is drawn from the words of Scripture, and those words hold everything we long to be.

"For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." (John 1:17)

Grace

We begin with grace, because God begins with grace. We were sinners with nothing to offer, and He gave us His own Son freely. We did not climb up to God; He came down to us. Everything we are as a church rests on this — that we are saved not by our works but by the unmerited favour of God in the Lord Jesus Christ.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God." (Ephesians 2:8)

And because we have received such grace, we are bound to show it. We want to be a people quick to forgive, tender toward the fallen, and gentle with one another — a place where the weary find rest and the sinner finds a welcome, not a frown.

The Truth

Grace never stands alone. It came joined to the truth — not a truth we invented, nor a truth that shifts with the times, but the truth of God's preserved Word, and of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, who is "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6).

"Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." (John 17:17)

We hold fast the King James Bible as that preserved Word, and we will not trade it for the doubts of men. Grace without truth grows soft and loses its way; truth without grace grows hard and cold. But grace and the truth together — as they came in Christ — build a church that is both tender and firm, loving and unbending, kind to sinners and faithful to God.

Love out of a pure heart

We long to be a people who love one another — but not with a shallow, pretended love. The love God calls for flows out of a heart made clean by Him.

"Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned." (1 Timothy 1:5)

"See that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently." (1 Peter 1:22)

This is our prayer for one another: not merely to be busy, nor merely to be right, but to love from a heart that God has purified — fervently, sincerely, and without hypocrisy. For the Lord Jesus Christ said, "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God" (Matthew 5:8).

Holiness in the house of God

Because God is holy, His people are called to be holy. We do not pursue holiness in order to be saved — we are saved by grace — but because we belong to a holy God who has set us apart for Himself.

"But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy." (1 Peter 1:15-16)

"Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord." (Hebrews 12:14)

Holiness is the beauty of God's house. We want a church where sin is not excused but confessed and forsaken, where the world is not welcomed into the pulpit, and where the presence of a holy God is honoured. Such holiness is never harsh; it is the fruit of grace, and it makes the church a place where God is pleased to dwell.

"...holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever." (Psalm 93:5)

Why we exist

Our mission is simple. We exist to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ, to preach His preserved Word without compromise, to make the gospel known throughout the Montreal and Laval area, and to grow together in grace, in truth, in love, and in holiness, until He comes.

You will find a warm and unhurried welcome, plain and faithful preaching from the King James Bible, and a family of ordinary believers who have known the grace of God and want others to know it too. We are not a perfect people — we are a forgiven people, being made holy by Him — and we invite you to come and worship the Saviour with us.
